Hulu+: A Short Lived Relationship

My relationship with Hulu+ was short lived, primarily because Hulu did not make me feel all warm and fuzzy for very long. At first it appeared to be a match made a heaven, having a 2 month old infant it can be difficult to sit down and watch a show as it airs live. Excitedly I jump right in and began setting up subscriptions for all my favorites shows from my iMac.
I pick up my iPhone and attempt to stream a show only to presented with “We do not have the rights to stream this device to your device”. OK, maybe no mobile streaming, let me try my Roku, same exact message. This is where things went sour.
I was under the impression that the reason for Hulu+ was to break away from the web browser, however, I was mistaken. I hung in there for a few months, due to Hulu support informing me that more shows were being added on a regular basis, checking daily I except for some back catalog content and a few old movies non of my shows were viewable outside the confines of Hulu’s website. To make matters worse the same shows were available in the browser to free members as well. That is when I decided that could better use those $8 elsewhere.
With that said, I would give Hulu+ a second chance if they have the ability to break away from their current owners, who are limiting innovation. How can Hulu succeed with their vision, when it’s owners are still hung up on the traditional cable subscription model?
